Travel to MN 7/28/10 & 7/29/10 - Part 2 (Camping!)

Our first family camping trip took place near Baraboo, WI, at Devil's Lake State Park. It was complete with Emerson's first campfire hot dog and marshmallow roasting and S'mores, of course!

We got some sleep in our new tent.

No lake trip is complete without a big SPLASH and a change of clothes.

Travel to MN 7/27/10 & 7/28/10 - Part 1

On our way out of Michigan, we stopped a night in Decatur to visit Aaron's Uncle Bob.

Uncle Bob lives near a VFW with some big tanks on display and a fun playground.

Greetings from the Eau Claire rest area!

East Lansing and Dewitt, MI 7/24/10-7/27/10

We stayed a few days in Michigan with Aaron's Aunt and Uncle in Dewitt. We all got to go out twice on their pontoon boat--Emerson fell asleep the first time, but played a very active role the second time!

We also spent some time with (Great) Grandpa & (Great) Grandma Hayes. Emerson particularly enjoyed playing with Grandma's wheelchair and the wooden coasters.

We made a stop at the Everett, PA, Welcome Center. There was no one there to welcome us, but there were some peaceful benches for our picnic lunch.

In between Culpeper, VA, and East Lansing, MI, we stopped at a Cabela's to see the "World's Largest Bronze Wildlife Sculpture" and pick up a tent for later adventures. Emerson wasn't sure what to think about all of the wildlife on display inside the store.

When we passed through one of many toll booths, a toll-lady asked, "Is he reading that book?"

Culpeper, VA 7/20/10-7/23/10

Emerson's first time eating fresh corn on the cob straight off of the cob--there are few better places to do it as corn is a Reiman family tradition.

Philadelphia, PA 7/19/10 & 7/20/10

The first day of travel was a rough one as we didn't get started until 6 pm after the POD left. Emerson was bewildered and exhausted. He's not looking thrilled at this PA Turnpike service area, but this was actually a highlight of the trip.

We stayed the night in Philadelphia with Aaron's friends Kate & Adam. Emerson was interested in the kitty, Pounce, but only managed a few momentary close-ups.

Moving and Final Days in Port Jeff

Emerson's contribution to the packing process included sitting in boxes and pulling things out of boxes.

Good friends and fellow Washingtonians came to help us pack up (thank you again, Aaron P., Levana, and Jack!) They brought along Bella the dog and her fascinating crate.

Emerson had walked by the turtle splash park many times, but our penultimate night in Port Jefferson was the first time he got WET!

Summer

Uncle Nathan came out to visit and showed Emerson his iphone. Probably not on the Christmas list - no cool buttons!
It is not Emerson's fault if he doesn't look patriotic. The parade was sort of lame and it was really hot.
Escaping baby! Off to visit LD and Molly. LD = Little Dog.
Out at Avalon Park.
Down a country path.
Emerson is already getting to be a good cllimber. That must be at least a 5.11.
Emerson's first beater. That is pure raw egg white. Yummy!
At the Library playing with Leggos and looking at the highly decorated cieling - or is he performing a social psychology test?
Dad doesn't play all that much these days, but did pull them out. It will be a little while before there are videos of him playing trumpet, though.
Finger painting!
